Transport is essential to economic growth and affects people’s daily lives, but it also drives climate change and is the cause of too many deaths
Four high school pupils were killed when a speeding car smashed into them in Soweto on Monday, Johannesburg emergency services said.
The number of fatalities, motor vehicle accidents and cars on the road decreased significantly during the December holidays.
The festive season road accident death toll has been nearly halved in 2008, down to 774 fatalities compared to last year’s 1 474.
