China phone thief repents after 21 SMSs

A Chinese thief has returned a cellphone and thousands of yuan he stole from a woman after she sent him 21 touching SMSs, Xinhua news agency said on Monday. Pan Aiying, a teacher in the eastern province of Shandong, had her bag containing her cellphone, bank cards and 4 900 yuan () snatched by a man riding a motorcycle as she cycled home on Friday.

A poor crowd on Sunday saw AmaZulu play out a 1-1 draw against SuperSport United in a Premier Soccer League game at the Princess Magogo Stadium. AmaZulu were in a 1-0 lead at the interval. Bennet Mnguni, the former Sundowns midfielder, and ex-Kaizer Chiefs player Lucky Mzizi made their debuts for AmaZulu.

Experts battle disaster from stricken freighter

British experts battled on Monday to prevent an ecological disaster by offloading about 3 500 tonnes of fuel oil in a stricken container ship beached off the English south coast. While scavengers began pillaging containers washed up on the beach, operations were also under way to clean up some of the 200 tonnes of lighter fuel that has already started to leak.
