Sthembiso Zwane is the founder and director of GoGetta Africa, the first crowdfunding platform in South Africa. The 29-year-old heads up the due diligence process for high-growth potential businesses on the African continent, ensuring investments are sound and properly vetted before they are listed on the platform.
GoGetta seeks out high-growth businesses looking for funding, creating venture capital opportunities for investors. The company has raised more than R14 million in capital for the businesses on its platform, unlocking the potential of entrepreneurs. The company won the Leading Innovators in Section 12 Investments: South Africa, MEA Markets Business Awards in 2020.
Sthembiso, who has a BCom in financial management, is motivated by Sun Tzu, a Chinese military general, strategist, philosopher and writer, who said: “Opportunities multiply as they are seized.” The women in his childhood, his mother and grandmother, are also a source of inspiration.
“Seeing my single mother always going the extra mile to ensure that I had everything I needed. She would miss my swimming gala where I would set records and win medals because she was working. I work hard so I can be there for my family in a way that my mother was not able to be. I persevere through the tough times to provide my family with the life we have always wanted.”
Regarding South Africa’s future, Sthembiso would like to see a country that has come together to enable the growth of small businesses and improve the economy.

Work hard, be diligent, Persevere and make sure to celebrate the small wins just as much as you would the big breakthroughs. Last, you have to be humble in all your successes and let your failures groom you.
A country that is no longer shy to openly talk about its investment portfolios on a social level. A country that has come together to enable the growth of small businesses in Africa and actively make strides to better our economy.
