TUESDAY, 9.00AM:
THE British Lions management met with the South African Rugby Football Union’s general manager of refereeing and the chairman of the SA Referees’ Society on Monday to settle issues of refereeing before the 12-match tour begins.
“What I don’t want to do is find out we’ve got problems on the field. What I want us to do is say we know what the referees are looking at and if there are any alterations, we are aware of it,” British coach Ian McGeechan said.
He added: “Each referee is different and we have to be comfortable with that.” The referees named by the Lions are Joel Dume, Peter Marshall and Paddy O’ Brien.
