Naspers buys Finance Week

OWN CORRESPONDENT, Johannesburg | Monday 10PM.

THE magazine and newspaper subsidiary of Naspers Limited, Nasionale Media Limited, has bought the financial journal Finance Week and will merge it with existing publications to form a new financial weekly.

Finance Week’s operations will be integrated with those of Nasionale Media’s two financial journals, F&T Weekly and Finansies and Tegniek. Finance Week’s key staff will be approached with a view to being employed by the F&T business unit.

Naspers said on Monday that Finance Week’s first two September editions will be published by Finance Week Holdings. Thereafter the operations of F&T Weekly and Finance Week will be fully integrated.

Naspers said the title will become the property of Nasionale Media and subscribers will be transferred to Nasionale Media. Finance Week Holdings Limited, the owners of Finance Week, will be paid in cash for the title. The two parties have agreed not to reveal the purchase price.
