JSE hit by technical glitch

The JSE could not provide final closing prices for local stock indices by market close on Monday due to a technical problem, it said.

The company said in a statement it was working on restoring prices for South African indices — including the top-40 index of blue-chip stocks and the broader all-share index — by Tuesday.

Prices for indices were unavailable all day on Monday, although prices for individual stocks could be seen as usual.

All but seven stocks in the top-40 lost ground during the session as persistent worries about the global economy hit equity markets worldwide. — Reuters
