SOUTH AFRICA’S gold and foreign reserves rose 3,7 percent in August, according to the South African Reserve Bank. Total gold and foreign assets amounted to R7,850-billion on August 31 compared to R7,567-billion a month earlier.
A decrease of R688,8-million in gold reserves detracted from a R971,9-increase in foreign assets, but the overall figure remained positive. The value of notes and coins in circulation rose R181,3- million from R14,988-billion on July 31 to R15,169- billion on August 31.
