Matured in Limosine

Angella Johnson

TWO lithesome ladies in their Limousine=20 took part in a market joyride around some=20 of Soweto and Eldorado Park’s shebeens and=20 taverns to promote Gilbey’s VO brandy and=20 Radio Metro.=20

Most of the station’s top DJs took part in=20 the unusual promotion – to the delight of a=20 few locals who turned out to see their =20 favorite stars. Ten gleaming Limosines left=20 the SABC Radio Park in a slow-moving=20 convoy, heading by traffic police, who also=20 held up traffic to ensure their=20 uninterrupted progress.

But the event failed to draw the huge=20 crowds expected, despite the temptation of=20 a generous R500 free prize draw on offer at=20 various drinking holes.

Grant Shakoane, one of the more popular DJs=20 proved more of a draw, in spite of the=20 disappointment at one stop when a woman=20 cried: “Do you think that’s Nelson Mandela=20 in there?” He spent much of the tour=20 partying with some of Eldorado Park’s more=20 friendly drinkers.
