SERBIA JUDGES TWO African judges have been appointed to the international tribunal into war crimes in Bosnia and Serbia. They are Fouad Riad of Egypt and Florence Mumba of Zambia, chosen to join the tribunal along with nine other judges in the UN General Assembly Tuesday.

ANGOLA PEACE NEEDS MONEY UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan has called for international funds for the demobilisation and reintegration of ex-combatants in Angola. Annan says the UN-run demobilisation programme will cost another $48-million this year, but the agency only has $1-million left. He said that unless the demobilisation process went forward, the Angolan peace process could falter. The UN has so far helped reintegrate about 12 000 demobilised soldiers; the target is 100 000.
