Six die in killer freeze

GOOD NEWS FUEL prices will drop in South Africa on midnight on June 4; petrol will drop five cents inland and six cents at the coast, diesel will rise one cent in Gauteng, and paraffin will fall almost three cents.

FREE STATE PROBES THE Free State provincial government appointed two commissions of inquiry on Friday, to investigate the education and agriculture departments. The probes will look into the legality of certain contracts and the alleged misuse of funds.

RIGHTWINGERS APPEAL TWO rightwingers, Daryll Stopforth and Leonard Veenendal, wanted in Namibia on charges of murder, vehicle theft, and possession of explosives and a machine gun, have been granted permission to appeal for a postponement of their extradition to Namibia. They were earlier refused a postponement, and will now appeal the refusal.

SINN FEIN VISIT The political wing of the Irish Republican Army, Sinn Fein, is sending a delegation to South Africa, to attend a conference near Cape Town this weekend. Sinn Fein said the talks will focus on the lessons the South African transition to democracy can offer in Northern Ireland peace talks.
