The team of management experts drafted to investigate the transformation of the SA Tourism Board say the probe copuld result in the demise of the board, to be replaced by an efficient new national marketing structure.
Satour interim executive director Michael Farr said a forensic audit has been instituted, which is likely to uncover irregularities. He said the audit is intended to identify irregularities and inefficient financial management systems and procedures. He added that certain irregularities had already been uncovered, and measures instituted to stop them. As part of the audit, all contracts entered into in the past few years will be scrutinised and terminated if found to be flawed.
Farr said the in redesigning Satour, his team’s focus will be on efficiency, service delivery, sound business principles and adherence to a code of ethics. He said his team will make recommendations to the Satour board within six months.
