Sasol forges gas conversion ties

SASOL Technology said on Wednesday it has established an alliance with four international oil companies to develop new processes for the conversion of natural gas into synthesis gas.

The alliance will develop Sasol’s new gas conversion technology which, the company claims, reduces the capital and energy costs of synthesis gas production.

The other alliance members are: Amoco Production Company, British Petroleum, Praxair, and Norway’s Statoil.

JCI BUYS SHELL’S COAL INTERESTS MINING house Johannesburg Consolidated Investments said on Wednesday that its Ingwe Coal Corporation had exercised its pre-emptive rights to 50% of Shell SA’s Rietspruit joint venture, resulting in Ingwe having acquired all of Shell’s SA coal interests.

STOCK EXCHANGES LINK THE Johannesburg Stock Exchange and its Namibian counterpart on Wednesday signed a joint information-sharing agreement to improve surveillance. The JSE said the agreement is part of a move towards building closer working links and boosting investment within Southern Africa.
