Serfontein quits Northerns

WEDNESDAY, 1.00PM:

NORTHERN Transvaal Rugby Union president Hentie Serfontein said on Tuesday that he will not be available for re-election at the union’s annual general meeting later this year.

The announcement was made after a closed doors meeting called because of the pressure from local rugby fans, who are calling for the sacking of both Serfontein and Blue Bulls coach John Williams.

The meeting decided that Williams will remain as coach. The union also decided to set up a committtee to investigate the possibility of restructuring the union’s executive committee.
