New look a winner

aThe new-look Mail & Guardian, with its striking new arts pullout, Friday, has been hailed by readers, media-watchers, and the advertising industry.

The bulk of the redesign was done in-house by literary editor and chief designer Shaun de Waal, in consultation with Riaan de Villiers, a veteran journalist and production expert who works at the Centre for Policy Studies. He played a major role in providing the conceptual framework for the new-look paper.

The M&G’s unrivalled arts coverage has now been expanded to include lifestyle, witty and comprehensive television listings (long on our readers’ wish list!), media news and analysis, and satirist Robert Kirby. The entertainment guide section in the latter half provides reviews of the latest art, music, theatre and film, along with carefully selected guides to what else is on that week. The back page gives an essential summary of the best of what’s on in the coming days – the events you cannot afford to miss.
