WEDNESDAY, 1.30PM:
BAFANA BAFANA coach Clive Barker said on Tuesday he will meet with the South African Football Association (Safa) next week to discuss his future as the national coach. Before the Congo match, Barker said he would not necessarily remain as coach after the team had qualified for the World Cup finals in France.
“There are only two ways they can go. Either they will go the full hog, which I don’t think they will,” he said. “And the second scenario is they will employ somebody of my choice full-time who will do the running around me, and I will be able to stay in the same capacity where I can run my sports goods agency.”
Barker said this person will be able to visit the players overseas as he will be full-time. He said he would also like to share his duties with other coaches as he did during the African Nations Cup last year.
