NATAL beat Eastern Province 57-26 in a Bankfin Currie Cup match in Port Elizabeth on Sunday. Natal, who are seeking their fifth title in seven years, ran in nine tries in a highly entertaining game.
Natal’s Shaun Payne crossed the line four times with Andre Joubert and Joos Joubert each scoring a pair.
Natal came back fighting like wounded tigers in the second half after leading 17-12 at interval. Natal were not entirley convincing, however, with many mistakes denying them more points and allowing Eastern Province’s flyhalf Chris Beukes to score four penalties.

Western Province registered a stunning 30-6 victory over Griqualand West in a Bankfin Currie Cup match at Hoffe Park Stadium in Kimberley on Saturday. The teams went to the break tied 6-6 after the Griquas led 6-0 until five minutes before half time.
James Small was inspirational for Province creating two beautiful scoring chances for Pieter Rossouw and Louis Koen.

Boland beat Border 40-22 in a Currie Cup match in Wellington on Saturday after Boland scored three quick tries in the last 11 minutes. Border scored two beautiful tries in the space of two minutes through centre Kaya Malotana to turn a 10-19 half-time deficit into a 22-19 lead.

Gauteng Lions beat neighbouring Gauteng Falcons 72-32 in a Currie Cup match at Ellis Park on Saturday. Lions scored 12 tries, moving a step closer to a semi-final berth after recording their biggest victory of the season. Lions captain Johan le Roux said they have a long way to go though before they can start popping champaign corks. “It’s no use playing good rugby until we get into their 22 and then making mistakes,” he said. “We lost concentration in their 22 and that’s something we have to really look at cutting down.”

South Western Districts Eagles beat bottom-of-the-table Mpumalanga Pumas 30-29 in a Currie Cup match after leading the Pumas 20-16 at half time at the Van Riebeeck Stadium in Witbank on Saturday.
