Cosmo goes big and beautiful

The sisterhood is going to be happy. Cosmopolitans gone a step further than just debating the image of women debate.

The magazine which has a circulation of 105 000 is running a big girl campaign and will now more regularly feature normal- sized women on its pages.

Writer Roald Dahls granddaughter, the curvaceous Sophie Dahl, can be credited with starting the bigger super-model revolution.

The local model, who graces Cosmpoloitans October pages, is Thula Dukada who may still be smaller than the normal South African woman, but is still much bigger than the models who usually stalk the catwalk.

Cosmopolitans representative, Lauren Benatar, says the December edition will feature what everyday women look like on the beach. She adds: South African women are generally much bigger than their European counterparts and we need to address their needs.

But big cover-girls are not on the cards. That may be a bit risky because covers sell magazines, says Benatar.
