Thobela TKOs Murray

THURSDAY, 12.30PM:

FORMER two-time world champion Dingaan “The Rose of Soweto” Thobela put his fading boxing career right on track when he beat Garry “The Heat” Murray on a technical knockout in the fourth round at Rodney Berman’s Jumbo Cash and Carry tournament at the Carousel on Wednesday night.

Thobela caught Murray with a right cross and followed with three more good puches and Murray wobbled on rubbery legs. The Rose threw eight punches without any reply from Murray and referee Alfred Buqwana stopped the fight.

DAVIS CUP DRAW SOUTH AFRICA has been drawn aginst Germany in the Davis Cup in Germany from April 3-5 next year. South African Tennis Association (Sata) chairman Gordon Forbes described the draw as “an ideal oppotunity for South Africa to realy make a name for ourselves. They would be the ideal team to beat to really re-establish our cup credentials.”
