Five on shortlist for Aventura

FRIDAY, 11:30AM:

The shortlist of bidders for the government-owned resort company Aventura was announced on Thursday by Public Enterprises Minister Stella Sigcau. Among them:

Kopano ke Matla, which is Cosatu’s investment trust, and includes Protea Hotels, Rennies Travel, Samrand, the International Finance Corporation and a Danish group, the Danish People Holiday Landsorgnisationei;

Sanco Consortium, which also includes the Protea Hotel group as well as the Sanco Development Trust and Southern Development Trust;

Phalafala Leisure Consortium, including the Empowerment Alliance, Kersaf, Genbel Securities and Belesco Investment;

Boiketlong Investment Consortium: Koti Investments, Nozakhlo Investment Holdings, Embhuleni Tribal Authority and Embhuleni Business Trust; and

Shomang Investment Holdings: the South African Development Corporation, Hampshire Hotel and Resorts, Native American and Zone Co, Hospitality Worldwide Services and the South African Casino Development Fund.

At stake are 14 holiday resorts.
