Cape Town and Joburg – top African cities

TUESDAY, 1.00PM:

DESPITE the crime problems in South Africa, a recent survey of the world’s cities found Cape Town and Johannesburg to be the best African cities in which to live, and Brazzaville, Congo, the worst city in the world.

The Corporate Resources Group conducted a survey of major world cities, looking at factors like political stability, economic outlook, culture, health and education resources, as well as public transport.

The survey found Canadian cities Vancouver and Toronto to have the highest quality of life, with New Zealand’s Auckland coming in second. European cities Zurich, Geneva and Helsinki were all rated highly for their region, while Melbourne and Sydney topped the Asian ratings.

Coming in at the bottom of the range worldwide besides Brazzaville, were strife-torn cities Sarajevo in Bosnia, and Baghdad in Iraq.
