Weekend Super-12 action

THURSDAY, 1.00PM:

DETERMINED to have Springbok flyhalf Henry Honiball on the Coastal Sharks’ Super-12 team for their match with the New South Wales Waratahs, Sharks coach Ian Macintosh has held back from naming his reserves.

Speaking from Sydney, Macintosh explained why he is hedging his bets — Honiball’s shoulders and neck are still hurting, but should he have recovered by Thursday, he will be in the pack for Sunday’s match. Meanwhile, Springbok centre Joe Gillingham is nearly fit to play, but Macintosh is going to rest him for another week, for the Sharks showdown with ferocious pussies the Golden Cats, in Durban next week.

The team for Sunday’s match, without reserves, is: Andr Joubert, Shaun Payne, Jeremy Thompson, Pieter Muller, Stefan Terblanche, Boeta Wessels, Kevin Putt, Gary Teichmann (capt), Warren Brosnihan, Wickus van Heerden, Mark Andrews, Steve Atherton, Adrian Garvey, Chris Rossouw, Ollie le Roux.

The Golden Cats play the Wellington Hurricanes in New Plymouth on Friday.

The Hurricanes team is: Christian Cullen, Doug Howlett, Alama Ieremia, Tana Umaga, Jason O’Halloran, David Holwell, Richard Jarman, Filo Tiatia, Martin Leslie, Glenn Taylor, Kevin Barrett, Dean Anglesey, Gordon Slater, Norm Hewitt (capt), Orcades Crawford. Reserves are Danny Lee, George Leaupepe, Jarrod Cunningham, Dion Waller, Chresten Davis, Bill Cavubati, Tala Leisamaivao.

The Golden Cats line-up: Tinus Delport, Chris Badenhorst, Helgard Muller, Jannie van der Walt, Joe Esterhuizen, MJ Smith, Werner Swanepoel, AJ Venter, Andre Venter, Braam Els, Hannes Strydom (captain), Phillip Smith, Dawie Theron, James Dalton, Balie Swart.
