Staggie murder ‘was military operation’

OWN CORRESPONDENT, Cape Town | Thursday 7.00pm.

AN inquest into the murder of Cape Flats drug-lord and gang leader Rashied Staggie, on Thursday heard evidence in Cape town that the group responsible for his death, Pagad, at the time considered the murder to be a military operation.

A police operative Captain David Africa told the inquest that a Pagad executive member, Allie “Phantom” Parker, had told the Pagad gathering that the area was to be regarded as military terrain and that they were involved in a military operation.

Africa had at the time infiltrated the march to Staggie’s home disguised as a member of the group’s military wing, G-Force. Africa said that after a gunfight erupted at Staggie’s house he left the scene, only to find Staggie already dead when he returned with a superior officer later.

The hearing continues on Friday.
