NAMIBIA LIFTS PRESS BLACKOUT

THE Namibian defence ministry has lifted the media blackout on the country’s involvement in the war in the Democratic Republic of Congo, The Namibian newspaper reported on Tuesday. The decision to lift the press restrictions was taken after discussions between Defence Minister Erikki Nghimtina and the editor of The Namibian on Monday. The government imposed the ban after claiming that information about Namibian casualties in the DRC was being distorted by the press.
