SWAZILAND’S former member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), David Sibandze, has resigned from his post as head of Swaziland’s Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (SOCGA). In a statement released on Wednesday, Sibandze said: “Pursuant to my resignation from the IOC, I felt that it would not be in the best interest of SOCGA to continue serving as its president, though I am willing to offer my contributions to the organisation.” Sibandze announced his resignation from the IOC over the weekend following the scandal which has erupted over the way Salt Lake City won the bid to host the 2002 Winter Games.
