NILE BASIN ACCORD

MEMBER countries of the River Nile Basin signed a joint management agreement on Monday for its sustainable development. Member countries of the basin are Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, Uganda and Tanzania. The basin covers 3-million km. The Council of Ministers, who met in Dar es Salaam, signed the agreement in the presence of invited donors, including officials from the World Bank, the Canadian International Development Agency and the United Nations Development Programme.
