THREE main opposition parties in Tanzania have supported a proposal for a single candidate in the presidential election next year. Opposition heavyweights from Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo, NCCR-Mageuzi and the Civic United Front said on Thursday they are in full support of the proposal to field one presidential candidate from their camp to oppose the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi in the coming election. This week newspapers reported the National Chairman of the United Democratic Party and Member of Parliament for Magu, Mr John Cheyo, as suggesting that the opposition should have a single presidential candidate in the next year’s election.
