TREVOR TUTU, the son of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for tax evasion between 1996 and 1997. Tutu (42) appeared in court on two charges of tax evasion after he allegedly failed to respond in time to local revenue office requests for summaries of his assets and liabilities. His lawyer, Welile Thabete, told the court a postponement was essential to get proof that Tutu had submitted his tax returns. The case was postponed to April 12. Tutu will be back in court on Tuesday in connection with another case. Judgment on charges of reckless or negligent driving will be handed down.
