ZAMBIA’s copper output fell to 18970 ton in February, due mainly to a shortage of concentrates and production problems at largely state-owned Zambian Consolidated Copper Mines (ZCCM) , a report said on Thursday. Zambian copper production totalled 21&nbssp;708 ton in January, Citibank’s Lusaka office said in a report. Aside from production problems at ZCCM, the bank said Zambia’s privatised mines have not yet achieved significant gains in production. ZCCM accounted for 15065 ton of Zambia’s total copper output in February, with the remainder coming from the privatised Roan Antelope, Chibuluma and Bwana Mukubwa mines. The Zambian government reached a tentative agreement earlier this year to sell its core copper mining assets to South Africa’s Anglo American Corporation, but negotiations to finalise the deal are continuing.
