TCL RIGHTS STILL OPEN

NAMIBIA’S Minister of Mines and Energy cannot guarantee the mineral rights of the liquidated Tsumeb Corporation Limited to any specific party at this stage, Permanent Secretary Siseho Simasiku said at the weekend. In a statement clarifying the position on TCL’s mineral rights, Simasiku said the law entitles Minister Andimba Toivo ya Toivo to cancel the rights upon liquidation of the company. Two weeks ago, the high court ordered that TCL be wound up after the insolvent copper mining company had spent more than 10 months in provisional liquidation.
