IFP PUTS ITSELF IN HOT SEAT

KWAZULU-NATAL’S ruling Inkatha Freedom Party on Tuesday voted in favour of removing the African National Congress’ Bheki Cele from the chairmanship of the provincial portfolio committee on safety and security. In a statement the IFP defended its decision saying: “In the interests of good governance and better relations between parliament (the legislature) and the executive, the IFP has decided to reallocate the chairmanship of safety and security to the IFP and that of public works to the ANC. It (the IFP) has done so believing that given the serious crisis which faces our province in the field of safety and security, that it is in the best interests of all that the IFP chair this committee.”
