MUFAMADI IN SPEED FLAP

POLITICAL parties have called for an explanation about allegations of reckless driving against the three-car convoy of Safety and Security Minister Sydney Mufamadi. Mufamadi’s convoy was stopped twice within five kilometres on the N1 Highway north of Pretoria on Monday afternoon, The Citizen reports on Wednesday. Police said traffic officials pulled off two vehicles in the convoy after receiving a radio call about an Opel Astra forcing its way through Easter traffic. The driver was warned and the convoy proceeded. About five kilometres further traffic officers again pulled off the convoy. The escort cars’ keys were confiscated, but later returned and the convoy proceeded. Mufamadi explained by saying his escort cars had to stay close to the lead car.
