Natal to snub Super 12 teams

THURSDAY, 1.00PM:

TOURING Super 12 teams that have grown used to having the red carpet rolled out for them by the Natal Rugby Union will be disappointed.

The NRU has decided to give all Super 12 teams the cold shoulder after the suspension of flanker Wickus van Heerden’s 18 month ban for biting New South Wales prop Richard Harry.

“We have always looked after our visitors and treated them very well. We went out of our way to treat NSW feel at home when they stayed and prepared in Durban recently … we gave care to all their needs, provided the party with a liaison officer and allowed them to train at King’s Park. From now they can all forget it,” said the union’s CE Brian van Zyl.

Van Zyl added that the Sharks were not allowed to train at the Sydney Football Ground (the match venue against New South Wales), although it had been stipulated in the playing conditions.
