ANGOLAN ARRESTED FOR BOMBING

ANGOLAN student Silva Cassamano Quiberto has been formally arrested and charged with murder in connection with the bombings that rocked Lusaka in early March. Quiberto, who was charged on Friday, has been in police custody since March 31 1999. He was earlier charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, a case which was disposed of by a Lusaka magistrate’s court on April 6. He was, however, not released by police, despite having been given a suspended sentence. Quiberto, a student at Evelyn Hone College, is the third person to be arrested in connection with the bombings that rocked Lusaka in early March, killing one man. Thirteen bombs exploded around Lusaka, one damaging a water supply pipe in Chilanga that supplies water to the city and another exploded at the Angolan embassy.
