PUPILS BEAT PRINCIPALS

OVER 100 pupils from the Dumezweni Senior Secondary School near Umtata, Transkei have been arrested, after beating their principal nearly to death. Zuko Vundle was confronted by pupils over the issue of teacher redeployment, before they took to stoning him and beating him with sticks. They then held him hostage, along with other teachers, before police negotiator arrived. The pupils will be charged with kidnapping, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, and public violence, according to police spokesman Captain Mzukisi Fatyela.
