THE Swaziland Electricity Board plans to cut ties with Eskom once the 400kv power line to Mozambique is complete. A Swaziland Environmental Authority action plan reveals that SEB is making arrangements to purchase electric power from Mozambique because hydro-power prices are lower than Eskom. ”At the moment there is really nothing we can do until the 400kv line, tobe installed by Eskom is in place. At the moment we are buying power at 12 cents per unit from Eskom,” said the well-placed source in Mbabane. He said that once the 400kv power line was in place they would be getting power from Mozambique at a far cheaper rate.
