DU PREEZ STILL ON THE STREET

THE South African Broadcasting Corporation on Wednesday said it will not be re-hiring Special Assignment presenter Max du Preez despite the public support the renowned journalist enjoys, and a possibility of legal action against the corporation. TV news head Phil Molefe told du Preez on Wednesday that the decision to drop his contract remains unchanged. Du Preez says he plans to approach the Independent Broadcasting Authority over the matter, and may take his case to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration. The reason for Du Preez’s current lack of popularity in the SABC hierarchy is reported to have been an incident of “insubordination” on Du Preez’s part.
