POLICEMAN GUNNED DOWN ON FLATS

A CAPE Flats police reservist was shot dead and two of his colleagues wounded when they attended a complaint in Tafelsig, Mitchell’s Plain late on Sunday. Police spokesman Captain Mark Romburgh said Constable Nasrula Samie and three colleagues spotted a group of about 10 men in Mirinda Street, Tafelsig at about 9.15pm. Samie got out of the police vehicle and immediately came under fire. He tried to run to a nearby house but was gunned down and died at the scene after he had been shot in the neck. Police arrested two youths aged 15 and 17 and two men aged 19 and 20 and seized two 9mm pistols.
