CAPE FINANCE DIRECTOR FIRED

EASTERN Cape legislature finance director Bejile Fatuse was fired last Thursday amidst accusations that he allegedly used legislature administrative resources for his money lending business, the Daily Dispatch reported on Sunday. Legislature secretary Mandisile Mdleleni dismissed Fatuse, alleging that he also abused his powers by not following the proper procedure in deducting money from staff members’ salaries for his money-lending business. He was earlier found guilty on seven of the nine charges relating to financial mismanagement which were confirmed by an appeal presided over by deputy Speaker Max Madlingozi. He also allegedly converted MPLs’ official air tickets for hired vehicles for the politicians and deducted money from staff salaries without authorisation. His seniors, former legislature secretary Connie de Beer and his deputy Vincent Khambi resigned before charges against them could be formulated.
