KILLIAN ORDERED TO RETRACT ANC SLUR

THE New National Party’s candidate for the Gauteng premiership, Johan Killian, has been ordered by the Electoral Court in Pretoria to apologise to the African National Congress for alleging that it has planned electoral fraud for June 2. Killian had alleged at an electoral rally in Boksburg, and to the media, that the ANC plans to “vote” on behalf of registered voters who do not make use of their ballots. The ANC reached an agreement with the NNP in terms of which it would not ask for Killian’s removal as a candidate, in return for an NNP apology published in two daily newspapers. The electoral court awarded the ANC costs for the proceedings.
