SWAZI WIDOWS ACQUITTED

OVER 40 elderly Swazi widows are celebrating their acquittal in a South African court in Pongola on charges of defrauding the government of thousands of rands of pension monies. They were arrested in May last year while queueing at a government office in Pongola to draw pensions using illegally obtained South African documents. They were freed on Friday after Home Affairs department officials failed to appear in court to give evidence to substantiate the charges.
