TERRE’BLANCHE, PIET SKIET, GET AMNESTY

AFRIKANER Weerstandsbeweging leader Eugene Terre’Blanche and one of his generals, Piet “Skiet” Rudolph, have been granted amnesty for their part in the siege of Ventersdorp in which three people died, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s amnesty committee confirmed on Monday. Beeld reports that Terre’Blanche was also granted amnesty for two other incidents: the tarring and feathering of late Professor Floors van Jaarsveld in 1979 and the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition in 1982. Terre’Blanche, who said he never doubted that amnesty would be granted to him, is at present out on R20000 bail pending an appeal against a six-year jail term for attempted murder and assault of a labourer.
