THE Mozambican and Chilean governments signed in Maputo on Tuesday a memorandum of understanding aimed at relaunching bilateral cooperation in the area of public works, like building of infrastructures such as roads, bridges, ports and airports. The document was signed by the Mozambican public works and housing minister, Roberto White, and his Chilean counterpart, Jaime Toha Gonzalez. Toha ended on Tuesday a five-day visit to Mozambique, during which he visited various projects in the Maputo Development Corridor, including the site of the future Mozal aluminium smelter and the Pequenos Libombos dam. White said that the memorandum envisages training opportunities for Mozambican staff, adding that “this is essential for Mozambique, given our economic and financial limitations.”
