ANC YOUTH LEAGUE PICKETING IN WCAPE

FIFTEEN African National Congress Youth League members picketed the entrance of the Western Cape legislature building in Cape Town on Monday, demanding the formation of a provincial youth commission. ANCYL provincial deputy chairperson Goodenough Kodwa said he expected large number of their supporters to join them later on Monday afternoon. Earlier on Monday, ANCYL chairperson Wewe Simelela said that Monday’s picket protest was a call to both the NNP and Democratic Party to disband the provincial coalition government, as neither of the two parties wanted to see the province developing. Meanwhile, the ANC in the province has distanced itself from threats made by the Congress of South African Students last week to cause disruption in the city.
