AFRICA offers high returns on investment according to a focus on the continent initiated jointly by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency, the United Nations Development Programme and the International Chamber of Commerce. The focus revealed that African affiliates of US transnational corporations had enjoyed average returns of 29% on their foreign direct investments since 1990. The profitability of their African affiliates had also been consistently higher in recent years than that of affiliates in most other regions of the world, the sponsors said in a publication released at the World Economic Forum in Durban on Monday.
