MBANGO JUMPS TO AFRICAN RECORD

CAMEROON triple jumper Francoise Mbango broke the African record in the discipline in La Roche-Sur-Yon, Frnace, on Sunday jumping 14.66m to beat the old mark set by Algeria’s Baya Rahouli by 47cm. The 23-year-old, whose jump put her into the world’s top 10 performances, remained unmoved by her achievement. “Before I came here I had only jumped 14.05m. All I wanted to do was to jump the mark (14.15m) that would have qualified me for August’s world championships in Seville,” she said.
