TERGAT GUNNING FOR RECORD

OLYMPIC 10000m silver medallist Paul Tergat of Kenya on Wednesday said he would attempt to break the world record over the distance in Stockholm on July 30. Tergat, speaking before his 3000m race at the Charlety Stadium in Paris on Wednesday night, said Stockholm would see his only 10000m before the world championships in Seville, Spain, next month. The five-time world cross-country champion, who is also set to run against 10000m world and Olympic champion Haile Gebrselassie over 5000m in Zurich on August 11, said: “I’m in great form. My 5,000m time in Rome (2nd in 12:55,37) proved that.”
