Namibia stars out of Bafana clash

OWN CORRESPONDENT, Windhoek | Tuesday 12.30pm.

NAMIBIA will face South Africa here on Saturday in a Castle Cup Southern Africa championship quarter-final without their top defender and striker.

Defender Mohammed Ouseb, from South African club Kaizer Chiefs, is serving a one-match ban after being cautioned against Lesotho and Malawi while Chinese side Shengzen have refused to release striker Eliphas Shivute.

Ouseb and Shivute played key roles last year when Namibia eliminated South Africa from the annual competition with a shock 3-2 extra-time triumph.

Coach Peter Ueberjahn from Germany has included three South African-based players in his squad – goalkeeper Ronnie Kanalelo of Sundowns and midfielders Robert Nauseb of Chiefs and Ricardo Mannetti of Santos.
