KABILA HEADS HOME

DEMOCRATIC Republic of Congo President Laurent Kabila has ended a visit to South Africa after enlisting the help of President Thabo Mbeki in bringing rebels fighting to oust him to sign a ceasefire deal. Kabila and five of his cabinet ministers left Pretoria for home on Tuesday after a round of meetings with their South African counterparts during their two-day working visit. After talks with Kabila, Mbeki on Tuesday sent South African Foreign Minister Nkosazana Zuma to Rwanda and Uganda in a bid to persuade feuding rebel movements to sign a ceasefire agreement reached in Lusaka on July 10.
