FRENCH GROUP GETS NUCLEAR CONTRACT

FRENCH energy group Framatome said on Monday it has signed a five-year contract for maintenance and engineering work on a new nuclear power plant at Koeberg in South Africa. The contract with electricity group Eskom, which could be worth more than R150 million francs (R140-million) is to maintain pumps and taps, provide spare parts and give engineering support on the first two tranches of the 1800 megawatt plant, Framatome said. Framatome has designed and built the first two tranches of the plant at Koeberg near the Cape.
