MOLEFE TO ADDRESS FARMWORKERS

NORTH West Premier Popo Molefe is scheduled to address domestic and farm employees at Hartebeespoort, north of Pretoria on Sunday, Network Radio News reported. The Brits district chairman of the Congress of SA Trade Unions (Cosatu), Solly Phetoe, said the purpose of the rally is to educate the workers on how to protect themselves against exploitation by their employers. Phetoe said farmers have been dismissing workers for having participated in the June general elections. Some of the farmers are forcing their employees to work abnormal hours without overtime pay. According to Phetoe, Cosatu has been trying in vain to negotiate with the affected farmers.
